You also want to make sure you are pressing in the Gas Valve Knob for at least 10-20 seconds to bleed out any air that was sitting in the hose. Several attempts may be needed to bleed all the air from the line when starting with a new tank. Check your fuel tank for proper fuel level, if it is too low the liquid inside will not provide enough vapor for proper operation.

When used on surface that is not level, it is possible that the tip-over switch has engaged. Be sure proper fuel level is in your propane tank.
Option 2: Allow the pilot to burn for approximately 1 minute before turning the valve to the RUN position. Also, make sure there are no kinks in the fuel supply hose.
